Senior Years
Grades 3 to 6 at Briagolong Primary, offer a well-rounded educational experience. Students continue to build upon the foundational skills acquired in earlier years while preparing for the transition to secondary school.
Academic Development: Students are exposed to a more comprehensive curriculum, covering subjects like English, Mathematics, Science, and Humanities. They begin to develop higher-order thinking skills, engage in research projects, and participate in assessments to gauge their progress.
Leadership and Responsibility: Senior school students are invited to take up a variety of leadership opportunities within the school. Roles such as School Captains, House Captains and Student Action Team (SAT), facilitate the development of qualities such as responsibility, organisation and teamwork.
Buddies Program: Our Grade 5 and 6 students participate in this program to facilitate a sense of belonging and security amongst our junior school students. Grade 5 students are paired with students from our local kindergarten to participate in transition activities with the local kindergarten class and our Grade 6 students work within out school with their Foundation 'Buddies' to ensure a seamless transition into primary school life.
Transition Preparation: In the later years, we have a focus on preparing students for the transition to secondary school, including developing organizational skills, independent learning, and career exploration.
Extracurricular Activities: Briagolong Primary School offers a range of extracurricular activities, from sports to arts and environmental programs, allowing students to explore their interests and talents. Some of these programs include the RACV Human Powered Vehicle Challenge, Cows Create Careers Program and Gene Technology Access Centre (GTAC) outreach programs and excursions.
Community Involvement: Students are provided with opportunities to participate in community initiatives and projects, fostering a sense of social responsibility and community engagement through events such as Remembrance Day, ANZAC Day, Lions Club public debating and supporting other local events.
